Laps to Conquer M.S. finishes One Lap of America by Raising over $6,000

Media, Pa., May 27, 2004 - Dominion Title Services, Inc., GM Mobility, Sunoco Performance Products, Sunoco Marcus Hook Refinery and Audubon Environmental, Inc., fueled the Laps to Conquer MS, Inc. (LCMS), drive to end multiple sclerosis that finished 66th overall in the Tire Rack One Lap of America (OLOA) and raised over $6,000 to increase MS awareness.

The 2004 Laps to Conquer MS Drive to End Multiple Sclerosis participated in the April 30 through May 8th Tire Rack One Lap of America (www.onelapofamericia.com). Traveling over 5,700 miles through 16 states in 8 days, with 80 other contestants, LCMS won the bracket drag race segment, held at Heartland Park, Topeka, Kansas, and finished 66th overall in the OLOA. Scored competitions were held along the way at racetracks in Kansas, Colorado, California, Nevada, Oklahoma, Wisconsin and the South Bend, Indiana, Tire Rack skid pad. Mark DaVia and Drew Wikstrom, driving a Porsche 996 TT, won the 21st OLOA. It was the 16th OLOA for LCMS and the 18th for LCMS Executive Director, Fay Teal. "LCMS is driving toward a checkered flag," claims Fay Teal, "I don't care which comes first, an OLOA win or an MS cure." The LCMS drive continues after the OLOA as the use of vehicles allow.

Fay and David Teal started Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., in 1989; to increase multiple sclerosis awareness through motorsports after Fay was diagnosed with MS. "I've been very involved with motorsports all my life and was getting my competition license," remembers Fay Teal, "when the MS diagnosis ended that. Now I use my motorsports passion to combat MS."

Since the beginning, LCMS has driven over 185,000 miles in the pursuit of the checkered flag for MS. The drive has taken LCMS through 46 of the continental United States during 16 OLOA's. While their primary mission is MS awareness, LCMS has raised over $126,000 for the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org). "I am pleased that LCMS has collected this much," remarks Fay Teal, "but until the checkered flag for MS waves, LCMS drives on to the cure." Multiple Sclerosis is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system affecting both young and old. MS affects more than 400,000 people in North America.
