Laps to Conquer M.S. to Compete in One Lap of America

Media, PA, April 21 - Dominion Title Services, Inc., Baglier Buick GMC Mazda and Sunoco Marcus Hook Refinery join Laps to Conquer MS, Inc. (LCMS), for the drive to end multiple sclerosis and the Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap of America (OLOA).

The 2005 Laps to Conquer MS Drive to End Multiple Sclerosis is participating in the Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap of America (www.onelapofamericia.com). Traveling over 3,500 miles through 14 states in 8 days, with 100 other contestants, the event is from April 29 through May 7th. It is the 17th OLOA for LCMS and the 19th for LCMS Executive Director, Fay Teal. "We'll keep driving until we see a checkered flag," claims Fay Teal, "I don't care if it's for a 1 Lap win or an MS cure." The LCMS drive continues through September after the OLOA.

Fay and David Teal, of Media, PA, started Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., in 1989; to increase multiple sclerosis awareness through motorsports after Fay was diagnosed with MS. "I was very involved with motorsports all my life and was getting my competition license," remembers Fay Teal, "but, the MS diagnosis ended that. Now I use my motorsports passion to combat MS."

Since the beginning, LCMS has driven over 180,000 miles in the pursuit of the checkered flag for MS. The drive has taken LCMS through 46 of the continental United States during 16 OLOA's . While their primary focus is MS awareness, LCMS has raised over $126,000 for the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org). "I'm very pleased that LCMS has collected this much," remarks Fay Teal, "but until the checkered flag waves for MS, LCMS drives on toward the cure."

Multiple Sclerosis is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system affecting both young and old. MS affects more than 400,000 people in North America. The disease usually starts between the ages of 20 and 40 years with an average age of onset around 30. MS affects more women than men. Although no one can predict when, or if, there will be a cure for MS; there is much reason to be hopeful about the future. The ongoing advances in research (funded mostly by donations) including the areas of immunology and autoimmune diseases, are occurring at a faster rate than ever before and continue to add to our understanding of how MS works and progresses.

Dominion Title Services, Inc. ( www.dominiontitleservices.com), of Vineland, N.J, returns for the 10th year as the primary sponsor. Dominion Title Services, Inc. provides title insurance for real estate transactions. Other corporate sponsors include Baglier Buick GMC Mazda of Butler, Pa.-a first-year sponsor providing a Mazda6 Sport Wagon V6-and Sunoco Marcus Hook Refinery (www.sunocoinc.com) of Marcus Hook, Pa. Additional support comes from SunGard Availability Services, and the Friends of LCMS.

Through corporate sponsorship all OLOA and display costs are met, which allows that donations and contributions made to Laps to Conquer M.S will directly benefit people living with MS. Contributions to the drive to end multiple sclerosis can be mailed to: Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., P O Box 94, Lenni, PA 19052-0094.
