Laps to Conquer M.S. Mazda Prepares to Pace the NESCCA Pocono Sports Car Grand Prix

Media, PA, July 29 - Laps to Conquer MS, Inc. (LCMS), prepares the Dominion Title Baglier Sunoco Mazda6 to pace the NESCCA Pocono Sports Car Grand Prix Double National Races at Pocono International Raceway, Pa. The team and car has competed in the 2005 One Lap of America and two Autocrosses.

On August 6 and 7, the LCMS Dominion Title Baglier Sunoco Mazda6 will, each day, bring seven (7) North East Sports Car Club of America race groups to the green flag for their eighteen (18) lap races. The thirty-fifth running of NESCCA national races, on the 2.5-mile Pocono International Raceway road course, will benefit LCMS while deciding many champions and providing spectators with great racing.

Since finishing the One Lap of America 55th overall of the 93 competitors and 9th in the 18 Mid Priced sedan/wagon class, the LCMS Dominion Title Baglier Sunoco Mazda6 was Pace/Safety car at the 12 Hour race, Summit Point Motorsports Complex (W.Va.), the NESCCA National races and at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Races at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex. It appeared at media events in Millville and Camden (N.J.). David Teal competed with the Mazda6 in two South Jersey, SCCA autocrosses finishing 2nd in class (June) and 1st in class (July).

"The following are the appearances currently scheduled," states Fay Teal, Executive Director of LCMS, "more are added as opportunities arise." The schedule is Pace Car appearances for the LCMS Dominion Title Baglier Sunoco Mazda6. Fay Teal and David Teal, LCMS Assistant Executive Director will, also, attend these events.

September 3 - 5, Double MARRS SCCA Regional Races at Summit Point M.C., W. Va.;
October 8 & 9, MARRS SCCA Regional Races at Summit Point Motorsports Complex, W. Va.

Fay and David Teal started Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., in 1989; to increase multiple sclerosis awareness through motorsports after Fay was diagnosed with MS. "I was avidly involved with motorsports all my life and was getting my competition license," remembers Teal, "when, the MS diagnosis ended that. Now I use my motorsports passion to combat MS."

Since 1989, LCMS has driven over 180,000 miles in the pursuit of the checkered flag for MS. The drive has taken LCMS through 46 of the continental United States during 17 OLOA's. While their primary focus is MS awareness, LCMS has raised over $130,000 for the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org). "I'm very pleased that LCMS has collected this much," remarks Fay Teal, "but until the checkered flag waves for MS, LCMS drives on toward the cure."

Multiple Sclerosis is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system affecting both young and old. MS affects more than 400,000 people in North America. The disease usually starts between the ages of 20 and 40 years with the average age of onset around 30. MS affects more women than men. While no one can predict when, or if, there will be a cure for MS; there is much hope for the future. The ongoing advances in research (funded mostly by donations) including the areas of immunology and autoimmune diseases, are occurring at a faster rate than ever before and continue to add to our understanding of how MS works and progresses.
