Laps to Conquer M.S. Finishes Fay Teal's 20th One Lap of America

Media, PA, May 19 - The Laps to Conquer MS, Inc. (LCMS) teammates, David Teal and Wayne Hickman, driving the Dominion Title Services Audubon Environmental Sunoco Baglier Mazda6 helped get Fay Teal to the finish of her 20th Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap of America (OLOA, www.onelapofamerica.com).

"Cannonball OLOA surprised me with an engraved vase, holding a large bouquet, acknowledging my 20-year participation. My fellow competitors gave me a standing ovation," says Fay Teal, who has primary progressive MS. "I was taken aback; but MS still exists, so LCMS drives on toward a checkered flag." Fay Teal's 20th OLOA was the 18th for LCMS. The LCMS drive to end MS continues through September appearing as a Pace Car at race tracks and as a display car.

The 2006 Laps to Conquer MS drive to end MS participated in the May 6th - 13th Tire Rack Cannonball OLOA finishing 65th overall of the 85 teams competing. The OLOA teams traveled 3,932 miles through 15 states in 8 days. Starting and finishing on the Tire Rack Skip Pad in South Bend (IN), it stopped at 9 racetracks-Autobahn Country Club, Joliet (IL); Mid America Motorsports Park, Pacific Junction (IA); No Problem Raceway, Belle Rose (LA); Roebling Road, Bloomington (GA); Florence Speedway (SC); Virginia International Raceway, Alton; Putnam Park (IN); and Road America, Elkhart Lake, (WI)-for 17 timed events. Scheduled Drag and Bracket Drag races were rained out.

Fay and David Teal, of Media, PA, started Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., in 1989; to increase multiple sclerosis awareness through motorsports after Fay was diagnosed with MS. "I was involved with motorsports all my life and was getting my competition license," remembers Fay Teal, "but the MS diagnosis ended that. Now I use my passion to combat MS and find a cure."

Since 1989, LCMS has raised over $136,000 for the National MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org) while driving over 185,000 miles in the pursuit of the checkered flag for MS. Although the primary focus is MS awareness, "I am pleased that LCMS has collected this much," remarks Fay Teal. "But until the checkered flag waves for MS, LCMS drives on toward the cure." The drive has taken LCMS through 46 of the continental United States during 18 OLOA's.

Multiple Sclerosis is one of the more common diseases of the central nervous system affecting both young and old. MS affects more than 400,000 people in North America. The disease usually starts between the ages of 20 and 40 years with an average age of onset around 30. MS affects more women than men. No one can predict when, or if, there will be a cure for MS; but there is hope for the future. The ongoing advances in research (funded mostly by donations) including the areas of immunology and autoimmune diseases, are occurring at a faster than ever before and continue to add to understanding how MS works and progresses.

Dominion Title Services, Inc. (www.dominiontitleservices.com), of Vineland, N.J, is a 10-year primary sponsor. Dominion Title Services, Inc. provides title insurance for real estate transactions. Other corporate sponsors include: Audubon Environmental, Inc.; Baglier Mazda of Butler, Pa. - providing a Mazda6 Sport Wagon V6-Sunoco Race Fuels and Sunoco Marcus Hook Refinery (www.sunocoinc.com) of Marcus Hook, Pa. Additional support comes from the Westbrook-RockHill Foundation and the Friends of LCMS.

While the primary focus is MS awareness, LCMS has raised $136,000 for the NMSS (www.nationalmssociety.org). "I'm pleased to have collected this much," remarks Fay Teal, "but until the checkered flag waves for MS, LCMS will drive on toward the cure."

Corporate sponsorship covers all OLOA and display cost, allowing donations made to Laps to Conquer M.S., Inc., to directly benefit people living with MS. Donations to the drive to end multiple sclerosis may be mailed to: Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., P O Box 94, Lenni, PA 19052-0094.
