"This $5,000 is what LCMS collected during this year's lap of the drive to end MS," comments Fay Teal, an MS patient and the Executive Director of LCMS. "LCMS finished 51st overall in the 26th annual The Tire Rack One Lap of America - it was my 23rd One Lap." See the whole LCMS story at:

The LCMS drive to end MS was event charity for the August 14 -16 Tri Region, SCCA Double National Races at Pocono International Raceway (PIR) and the October 24 -25 Western New York Region, SCCA 2 Hour Enduro at Nelson Ledges Road Course in Ohio. LCMS also appeared at Watkins Glen International, NY and New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP).

Fay and David Teal, of Media, PA, started Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., in 1989; to increase multiple sclerosis awareness through motorsports after Fay was diagnosed with MS. "I was very involved with motorsports all my life. I was getting my competition license," remembers Fay Teal, "but, the MS diagnosis ended that. Now I use my motorsports passion to combat MS and find a cure."

Since 1989, LCMS has raised over $162,000 for the National MS Society ( while driving over 200,000 miles in the pursuit of the checkered flag for MS. Although the primary focus is MS awareness, "I am pleased that LCMS has collected this much," remarks Fay Teal. "But until the checkered flag waves for MS, LCMS drives on toward the cure." The drive has taken LCMS through 46 of the continental United States during 20 OLOA's.

Multiple Sclerosis is one of the most common diseases of the central nervous system affecting both young and old. MS affects more than 400,000 people in North America. The disease usually starts between the ages of 20 and 40 years with an average age of onset around 30. MS affects more women than men. Although no one can predict when, or if, there will be a cure for MS; there is much reason to be hopeful about the future. The ongoing advances in research (funded mostly by donations) including the areas of immunology and autoimmune diseases, are occurring at a faster rate than ever before and continue to add to our understanding of how MS works and progresses.

The LCMS corporate sponsors who made the drive to end MS possible include: Dominion Title Services, Inc. (, of Vineland, N.J; Audubon Environmental Inc., of Shamong, NJ; and Sunoco Performance Fuels ( of Marcus Hook, Pa and Thompson Toyota of Doylestown, Pa. Additional support comes from the Westbrook-RockHill Foundation, Matt's Automotive Service and the Friends of LCMS.

Through corporate sponsorship all OLOA and display costs are met, allowing all donations and contributions made to Laps to Conquer M.S to directly benefit people living with MS. Donations to the drive to end multiple sclerosis may be mailed to: Laps to Conquer MS, Inc., P O Box 94, Lenni, PA 19052-0094.
