A Charity Drive to end Multiple Sclerosis
April 2003

Laps to Conquer M.S. Announces Sponsors For One Lap of America

Media, Pa., April 30 – GM Mobility, Dominion Title Services, Inc., Sunoco Performance Products and Sunoco Marcus Hook Refinery join Laps to Conquer M.S., Inc. (LCMS), for the drive to end multiple sclerosis and the Tire Rack One Lap of America (OLOA).

GM Mobility joins the drive for the first time by supplying a 2003 GMC Envoy XL for LCMS to use on the OLOA. GM Mobility was created to address the adaptive-equipment concerns of people with physical disabilities. It’s also a resource for caretakers and service professionals. Information is available at www.gmmobility.com or 1-800-323-9935, prompt 1.

The 2003 LCMS drive to end MS starts with the May 3 – 10 Tire Rack One Lap of America – 4,000 miles through 16 states in 8 days. It is the 15th OLOA for LCMS and the 17th for LCMS Executive Director, Fay Teal. "I’m driving until I see a checkered flag," claims Fay Teal, "I don’t care which comes first, an OLOA win or an MS cure." The LCMS drive will continue after the OLOA as the use of vehicles allow.

The 2003 OLOA start and finish will be at the Lodge on the Green in Painted Post, NY with daily stops for scored competitions at 8 racetracks around the 16 state route. The tracks in route order are: Watkins Glen International, NY; Indianapolis Raceway Park, IN; Road America, WI; Hallett Raceway and Tulsa Speedway, OK; Memphis Motorsports Park, TN; Carolina Motorsports Park, SC; and BeaveRun MotorSports Complex, PA.

Dominion Title Services, Inc., of Vineland, N.J., returns for the 8th year as a sponsor, and the 5th year as primary sponsor. "Dominion Title Services, Inc., is proud to sponsor the LCMS Dominion Title Sunoco GM Mobility Envoy as they compete in the 2003 One Lap of America," states owner Suzanne King, "with the thought that we are racing towards the cure for this dreaded disease." Dominion Title Services, Inc., provides title insurance for real estate transactions.

Sunoco Performance Products, a sponsor of LCMS since 1989, was joined on the drive to end MS in 1992.by the Sunoco Marcus Hook Refinery. Associate sponsors include: Chambres and Associates of LaMott. Pa., a part of the drive to end MS since 1994, Steven Rudner, D.M.D., & Staff of Cherry Hill, N.J., a second year supporter, and the Friends of LCMS.

Fay and David Teal started Laps to Conquer M.S., Inc., in 1989, to increase multiple sclerosis awareness through motorsports after Fay was diagnosed with MS. "I’ve been very involved with motorsports all my life and was getting my competition license," remembers Fay Teal, "when the MS diagnosis ended that. Now I’m using my motorsports passion to combat MS."

Since 1989, LCMS has driven over 180,000 miles in the pursuit of the checkered flag for MS. The drive has taken LCMS through 46 of the continental United States during 14 OLOA’s – ‘I know we’ve been to all those states, we have 1 Lap Route Books to prove it, but I slept through half of them," muses David Teal.

While their primary focus is awareness, LCMS has raised over $100,000 for the National MS Society. "I’m very pleased that LCMS has collected this much," remarks Fay Teal, "but until the checkered flag waves for MS, LCMS will drive on to the cure."
